Dogs symbolize loyalty and friendship; they're genuinely humanity's best friend. These ceramic dogs, The Pack (2020-2022), are coil-built in low-fire clay, glazed in multiple layers and color variations. Each sculpture is between sixteen and twenty-two inches high, and each pup is named after a famous female writer, many of whom received a Nobel Prize in literature. They are loosely based on memories of our family dogs and on ones I have met at animal shelters, who wait for their “fur-ever home.” Some of those homes have ended up being my own.
