My work explores place, memory, and personal history, and how these occupy the gradient between everyday objects, folk art, and fine art. Though I have lived in the US for many years, looking back comes naturally and, at times, comes unbidden. My recent ceramic work, The Stacks, illustrates my art; it echoes the collection of awards my father won as a competitive marksman when I was a child in northern Sweden. Each work is made of a series of pieces with variations in firing technique, form, and texture. I lightly secured the components, though I sometimes left pieces unattached to express that within balance inheres precariousness and to emphasize imperfection within the form.
