Irja Bodén’s works commonly explore place, memory and personal history, and how these occupy the space between everyday objects and fine art.


Irja Bodén (b. Sweden) works in various media, though ceramics are the present core of her work. Most recently Irja has exhibited in Konstmuseet i Norr, Kiruna, Sweden (2019), and at Amos Eno Gallery, NYC (2020). She grew up north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden, and she received a BFA in Visual Arts, magna cum laude, from SUNY Potsdam (2006). Irja has received several residencies and grants, to include: Public Art Fellowship from New York State Council on the Arts and from the Vermont Studio Center. She continues to create and exhibit while living in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley with her husband, dog and cat.
